社會(huì)語(yǔ)言學(xué)是研究語(yǔ)言與社會(huì)多方面關(guān)系的學(xué)科,它從社會(huì)科學(xué)的不同角度,諸如社會(huì)學(xué)、人類(lèi)學(xué)、民族學(xué)、心理學(xué)、地理學(xué)和歷史學(xué)等去考察語(yǔ)言。自20世紀(jì)60年代發(fā)端以來(lái),社會(huì)語(yǔ)言學(xué)已經(jīng)逐漸發(fā)展成為語(yǔ)言學(xué)研究中的一門(mén)重要學(xué)科,引發(fā)眾多學(xué)者的關(guān)注和探究。
“牛津社會(huì)語(yǔ)言學(xué)叢書(shū)”由國(guó)際社會(huì)語(yǔ)言學(xué)研究的兩位領(lǐng)軍人物——英國(guó)卡迪夫大學(xué)語(yǔ)言與交際研究中心的教授Nicolas Coupland和Adam Jaworski(現(xiàn)在中國(guó)香港大學(xué)英語(yǔ)學(xué)院任教)——擔(dān)任主編。叢書(shū)自2004年由牛津大學(xué)出版社陸續(xù)出版以來(lái),推出了一系列社會(huì)語(yǔ)言學(xué)研究的專(zhuān)著,可以說(shuō)是匯集了這一學(xué)科研究的新成果,代表了當(dāng)今國(guó)際社會(huì)語(yǔ)言學(xué)研究的高水平。
