高等職業(yè)教育英語課程教學(xué)要求明確指出，高職英語課程不僅要幫助學(xué)生打好語言基礎(chǔ)，更要注重培養(yǎng)學(xué)生實際應(yīng)用語言的技能，特別是用英語處理與未來職業(yè)相關(guān)業(yè)務(wù)的能力。行業(yè)英語是高職院校培養(yǎng)和提高學(xué)生在行業(yè)內(nèi)運用英語能力的重要途徑。
《新核心高職行業(yè)英語：農(nóng)學(xué)英語/“十二五”職業(yè)教育國家規(guī)劃教材》以農(nóng)學(xué)為背景，以農(nóng)學(xué)英語應(yīng)用為主線，內(nèi)容涉及作物生產(chǎn)、植物保護、園藝技術(shù)、園林技術(shù)等方面。《新核心高職行業(yè)英語：農(nóng)學(xué)英語/“十二五”職業(yè)教育國家規(guī)劃教材》由八個主題單元組成，包含了聽、說、讀、寫、譯各技能訓(xùn)練。每單元分為FocusontheTopic，VocabularyStudy，ReadingOne，Task-drivenPractice，ReadingTwo，Writing，DIY，AchievementTest八個教學(xué)環(huán)節(jié)。
