回指是篇章連貫的重要手段，也是當代語言學研究的熱點之一，因為影響回指的因素眾多而且錯綜復雜，目前仍難以得到一個統(tǒng)一清晰的解釋。因此，《漢語篇章回指研究（英文版）》旨在對漢語篇章的不同回指形式進行系統(tǒng)研究，力圖找出不同回指形式的使用規(guī)律，并在此基礎上對眾多回指形式的不同使用規(guī)律進行了總結研究。
