《新視野英語教程》（第二版）是一套專供全國高職高專院校使用的英語教材，根據(jù)高職高專英語教學的發(fā)展在第一版基礎上進行了修訂與完善。本套教材貫徹應用為本的設計理念，體現(xiàn)新時期高職英語的教學要求，涵蓋基本的實用英語語言知識和交際技能，培養(yǎng)學生應用英語進行日常交流及從事相關職業(yè)活動的能力，同時提高他們的自主學習能力與綜合文化素養(yǎng)，以適應不同工作崗位的需要。
《新視野英語教程》（第二版）包含《讀寫教程》與《聽說教程》兩條主線，1-4級由淺入深，滿足不同起點學生的需要。除課本外，提供學習光盤、助教課件與試題庫等立體化教學資源，全方位支持英語教學。

寫作訓練包括Basic Writing Skills與PracticalWriting，既強化英語寫作基本功，又有效提高學生實用寫作技能。
配有《綜合練習》，鞏固和拓展《讀寫教程》中的語言知識與技能。
《新視野英語教程（第二版）讀寫教程》每單元圍繞一個主題編寫，由Leading In and Exploring theTopic、Section A、Section B和 Section C四大部分構成。
Leading In and Exploring theTopic為話題導入和探索部分，提供與單元主題相關的討論問題、會話及聽力練習，引導學生熟悉主題并積極參與本單元的話題討論。
Section A包含課文A和相關的閱讀理解、詞匯、短語、句型、句子翻譯等練習。這一部分中的基本寫作訓練（BasicWriting Skills）旨在鞏固學生的語法知識，提高學生的基本寫作能力。
Section B包含課文B和相關的閱讀理解、詞匯、短語等練習。
