This book is prepared as an innovative and comprehensive textbook for international and domestic undergraduates to learnMechanical DrawingorEngineering Drawingcourses in full English or bilingual Chinese-English settings.The course design is innovative in sense that it has been developed based on the comparison,absorption,and enhancement of the Engineering Drawing courses in top engineering universities and colleges worldwide.The book is aligned with the National Standard of Mechanical Drawing in China,and it covers technical drawing skills to inspire students interests in computer aided design(CAD)and make their learning experience more interactive and rewarding.
The features of this book are as follows:
1)In introducing the mechanical drawing theory,this book emphasizes on the integration of CAD theory with hand-on skill training of using CAD software tools;the teaching materials are prepared to cultivate students engineering intuition,awareness and desire for creativity.
2)The book has a clear course structure and a full coverage of theory and practice of engineering drawing.In each chapter,the key concepts are highlighted,and the teaching methods are designed to include the contents at different levels of difficulty for effective learning.Many examples are included to illustrate the concepts and drawing methods,and the project assignments are presented in some chapters to help students to learn and master knowledge through teamwork.
3)The book adopts the two-way method instead of the one-way method in traditional teaching,the information is expected to be exchanged between instructors and students in both ways.It requires that the use of each concept needs students to illustrate in CAD environment.Transforming one-way into two-way teaching mode allows instructors and students to be interactive and learning from each other effectively.
Wang Xiaoqin,Wu Fenxiang and Qiu Yafeng,three associate professors of Nanjing University of Science and Technology,wrote the main content of this book.Chapter 1,2 were compiled by Qiu Yafeng.Chapter 3~8 were written by Wang Xiaoqin.Chapter 9 and 10 were compiled by Wu Fenxiang.Deng Jiayi and Xia Tianyuan contributed to three-dimensional drawings in Chapter 4,5,6,7.Yan Wuling compiled the appendix.
