廣東省社會科學院歷史與孫中山研究所成立于1958年，前身為中國科學院廣州哲學社會科學研究所歷史研究室。1982年，歷史研究所成立，下設(shè)中國古代史、中國近代史、孫中山研究等研究室，后增設(shè)港澳史、明清經(jīng)濟史、當代史研究室。1986年，析孫中山研究室置孫中山研究所。2001年，歷史研究所與孫中山研究合并為歷史與孫中山研究所。2009年，以該所科研人員為依托，成立廣東海洋史研究中心。經(jīng)過60年的努力，歷史與孫中山研究所已成為國內(nèi)海洋史、廣東地方史、孫中山研究等領(lǐng)域的研究重鎮(zhèn)。本書主要匯集反映60年來該所發(fā)展歷程的回憶文字和彰顯其學術(shù)底蘊的學術(shù)文章50余篇，是他們獻給歷史與孫中山研究所60華誕的一份厚禮。
