一、《美國文學(xué)選讀》由復(fù)旦大學(xué)外文系編注，共三冊，第一冊，美國獨立革命到第一次世界大戰(zhàn)；第二冊，兩次大戰(zhàn)之間；第三冊，戰(zhàn)后到八十年代。二、本書每篇大多由“作者簡介”、“題解”、“選文”和“注釋”四個部分組成。有些選文因可獨立成章，“題解”從略。三、作家與作品大體按出生年月、發(fā)表時間的先后排列。但少數(shù)作家、作品因文學(xué)流派或地位影響等關(guān)系，編排次序稍有變動。
